Guppy is one of the nicest color fish. It’s also termed as millioonfish or rainbow fish. Guppy is the best hugely distributed tropical fish across the world and a great popular freshwater fish. People across the world are breeding a thousand mutations of guppy. They are small in size and peaceful in the aquarium. Guppy fish is also compatible with some other aquarium fish and live-bearer too.

 

What size of aquarium do I need for a pair of guppy? 

The standard is one pair per gallon of water and the minimum aquarium size for guppy fish is 10 gallons. So, to keep guppy fish need a 10 gallon of water tank. But the bigger is the better. If you can provide a larger swimming space then the health condition will be best.

What are the accessories I need for the tank? 

There are few things needed for your guppy tanks like a filter, a heater for the winter season, and a temperature meter for checking the current temperature. If you can collect an ammonia test kit then better. If you are planning for decorative tanks like planted, then you will also need to collect them. There is a lot of variety of aquarium plant-available online.

 

What are the types of guppy tanks or aquariums? 

There are a couple of options for a color fish aquarium based on your budget and space available. When you have a larger space outdoor, then the best is a rectangular cement tank. For indoor decorative features, a glass aquarium or tank is best. If you don't care about the aesthetic look then go for a cargo box. The cargo box has a maximum capacity of 80 liters and a minimum of 15 liters in Bangladesh. Cement and glass aquarium is costly compared to others.

 

How can I make a low-cost guppy breeding setup?

There is also a low-cost option. In Bangladesh, we use a cork sheet box which is normally used to carry big fishes. Cork sheet box has different sizes and qualities. A best quality cork sheet box is durable. Except for this, you can use fruit caret wrapped with polythene inside. This type of plastic fruit caret has a capacity of around 35 liters.

 

Is glass aquarium best or plastic box?

As discussed above regarding price and authentic looks both have merit and demerit. A better-looking glass aquarium is best but costly. For moderate cost and looks, plastic is best. Glass aquarium can break but plastic has no chance.

There is a couple of ways to buy high-quality guppies from Bangladesh. The best way is to find one guppy fish breeder adjacent to your location. Go to the breeder physically and buy guppy fish. You will also see lots of guppy fish sell posts on the different Facebook groups. If you want to buy guppy fish online, before sending advance money please verifies the seller if possible. There are fraud sellers too. 

What about imported guppy fish? 

Imported guppy is the only option for getting a new guppy from Bangladesh. There is a couple of fish importer in Bangladesh. But the problem is they do not sell two or three pairs. Though, you can buy from the reseller who is selling few pairs at some higher price. Personally, I know RAASH, they are importing guppy and other aquarium fish in Bangladesh.
